Anna Goebel

(b. 1951), Poland

Born in 1951, she studied at the Poznan Academy of Fine Arts and concluded her studies in 1977. Her artwork examines nature and the nature of mankind, while creating diverse systems of recurring units. She uses materials found in her environment, such as wrapping paper, branches, grass and leaves, and turns them into new forms. Thus everyday materials that go unnoticed become sculptures and are exhibited to the public in their new form.
The artist at present serves as a professor in the Poznan Academy of Fine Arts. She has won various awards, including the Minister’s Award for Culture and Arts. Her works are exhibited in museums and private collections in and outside of Poland.
