Ilya Gefter – Painting: Between the Personal and the Collective
Lecture | Tuesday | 21.7 | 19:00
A single photograph of Ilya Gefter’s great-grandfather, shown among Soviet soldiers in the ruins of Berlin after Nazi Germany’s surrender, served as the starting point for a body of work that moves between personal narrative and collective history.
In recent years, Gefter has been working on “The Front,” a series of paintings addressing war, memory, and the way past events continue to echo in the present.
During the lecture, Gefter will share the sources of inspiration behind his work, his creative process, and the intersection between life, history, and painting.
Recently, two paintings from “The Front” series were added to the museum’s collection.
Albert Beger and Menachem Zibziner Quartet
Thursday | August 13, 2026
Twenty-six years after the release of their collaborative album Art of the Moment, two of Israel’s most distinctive and influential voices in jazz and free improvisation reunite on stage.
The collaboration between saxophonist and composer Albert Beger and guitarist and composer Menachem Zibziner began in 2000 and resulted in the acclaimed album Art of the Moment. Since then, each has continued to develop a distinctive musical language—Beger with fourteen studio albums and Zibziner with ten of his own. Now they come together once again, bringing to the stage a mature and compelling artistic dialogue.
The performance moves along the captivating spectrum between Contemporary Jazz, Spiritual Jazz, and Experimental Jazz – an immersive musical experience of improvisation and emotion.
